A la veille de son soixante-dixième anniversaire, le Concours Eurovision de la Chanson cristallise de nombreux enjeux : mise en scène d’identités partagées ou de rivalités géopolitiques ; fabrique des normativités et des représentations ; interrogation du légitimisme culturel et de son envers, etc.
Le colloque « Concours Eurovision de la chanson et Sciences humaines et sociales » entend poursuivre les initiatives collectives ayant déjà contribué à l’état de l’art interdisciplinaire des recherches menées à propos du Concours Eurovision de la Chanson. De façon interdisciplinaire et critique, ce colloque souhaite questionner les approches et études émergentes autour du concours et de ses multiples dimensions.
La tenue de ce colloque servira de tremplin à la constitution d’un réseau de recherche international : ce dernier, dénommé ENCORE (Eurovision Network for Collaborative Research and Exploration) s’intéressera à la manière dont le CEC peut être étudié au croisement des approches, des disciplines et des objets de recherche, et aura également pour objectif de favoriser le
dialogue entre science et société autour du concours. Dans cet esprit, le colloque alternera entre des temps dédiés à la présentation et à la mise en discussion des recherches autour de l’Eurovision, à des ateliers participatifs pour imaginer les objectifs et les modalités de coopération au sein du réseau ENCORE et une soirée culturelle dédiée au concours le 2 avril en partenariat avec le podcast 12 Points.

On the eve of its 70th anniversary, the Eurovision Song Contest serves as a focal point for numerous critical issues: the staging of shared identities and geopolitical rivalries; the construction of normativities and representations; and the questioning of cultural legitimacy and its counterpoints. To study Eurovision is to examine the intersections of identity, collective ritual, and social media participation, while shedding light on the complex political and social dynamics of the cultural and media industries. To what extent can the Humanities and Social Sciences clarify and analyze the past and present social, cultural, and political stakes of the ESC?
The conference “The Eurovision Song Contest and the Humanities and Social Sciences” aims to build upon collective initiatives that have established an interdisciplinary state-of-the-art in ESC research. Through an interdisciplinary and critical lens, this conference seeks to examine emerging approaches and studies surrounding the contest and its multiple dimensions. Furthermore, this conference will serve as a springboard for the establishment of an international research network: ENCORE ( Eurovision Network for Collaborative Research and Exploration ). This network will explore how the ESC can be studied at the intersection of various disciplines and research objects, while fostering dialogue between science and society. In this spirit, the conference will feature research presentations, participatory workshops to define the cooperative goals of the ENCORE network, and a cultural evening dedicated to the contest on April 2nd, held in partnership with the 12 Points podcast.
