Le projet de recherche :
“Alterities in Becoming” is a research-creation project that explores the multicultural neighborhood of Château Rouge-Goutte d’Or in Paris, and to do so, employs observation, conversations, and visual documentation. It challenges disciplinary boundaries and encourages interdisciplinary collaboration to analyze how identity markers become, change, and can enhance or discriminate in social and cultural contexts. The objective is to end stigmatization, establish new perspectives, and advocate for a more inclusive comprehension of social issues that define the neighborhood.
The project aims to break down stereotypical portrayals of African postcolonial communities, employing non-western storytelling techniques to combat negative attitudes and preconceptions. Through experiential visual ethnographic research, it fosters understanding and appreciation of diverse cultures and communities in Château Rouge- Goutte d’Or. The project considers both the political effects and the epistemological stakes of conceptualizations and representations of otherness and blackness.
“Alterities in Becoming” is an international (FRANCE-URUGUAY) transdisciplinary: art, ethnography, cinema, sociology, and translaboratory (IRCAV and ETSCA) project.
